Top 5 Reasons Why You Should Not Go Shopping Alone
Your friends can help you sort the trash from the treasures
Are the shoulders on this vintage button-up too lumpy? Do these jeans fit weird on my butt? Taking your friends shopping means you can avoid these fashion faux-pas. Friends can help you avoid your worst mistakes by getting the full 360° view those changing-room mirrors can’t provide. No more throwing money away on clothes you wear once and suddenly decide they don’t look right. When you pool your knowledge and opinions with those of your closest, most stylish friends, you come away with only the best fashion-forward outfits. And hey, if you’re still feeling doubtful, you have a photographer at the ready to take some shots you can send to anyone else whose opinion matters!
You get to experience different styles
Although you and your friends might have similar tastes, no two people like exactly the same thing. Alone, you might hem and haw over whether you even want to try on the new stock of one-piece bathing suits at your favorite shop, but bringing a friend along can provide you with the courage you need to branch out and try a fresh look. In addition to different styles, your friends might even know some hidden gems and you can explore some new stores. There’s nothing better than finding a new favorite from a friend’s recommendation, but even if you find you look ridiculous, you will have fun laughing with your friends in the dressing room!
Mid-shopping lunches are better with friends
Everyone knows a long day of shopping requires good fuel. For many, the problem is what to eat when you get there. Can’t decide between the seafood ravioli or the orange and beetroot salad? Take note of what your friends order and share everything from apps to dessert. Don’t forget, the more friends you bring, the more food you get to try!
You can plan for events
Anyone with a social life knows the hardest part of attending an event is the dress code. Business casual, semi-formal, dress clothes, costume. If you’re anything like me, you have trouble keeping track of all the different ways to categorize dress style. It can be helpful to have friends around to bounce thoughts off of – you can decide together if you’re being too “extra” for your office Halloween party. If you want to go all out, you and your crew can even plan coordinated outfits together. Now that’s a statement!
We’re busy! Everyone is busy! With your phone always within arm’s reach, it can be hard to prioritize making time to see your friends in real life. Luckily for us, everyone wears clothes, so planning a shopping spree is a great excuse to spend some time with the people who like all your Instagram posts. Sometimes, a break in your routine and some friends to vent to is just what you need to get you through the rest of the week. For me, there’s nothing better than a nice gossip session over coffee after a long day of shopping. Retail really is therapy!
